My friend and I were at Eastwood too early in the morning (I was starving because I haven’t eat anything yet) when we saw this interesting breakfast cafe called Early Bird Breakfast Club. After seeing their menu, which showcases nice photos of Filipino and Western European breakfast meals, we decided to go.

The cafe’s interior was classy, youthful and modern. I love the furniture and the ambiance. It was a good place to start planning your day ahead. The server was also friendly and polite. I guess I don’t have anything bad to say with the place and the service.

Now, the food.

Since my friend and I cannot decide whether to have a Pinoy breakfast or Western European, we ordered the bestseller for each. I ordered Adobo Sunrise and requested to have the egg scrambled while my good friend had the Early Bird Full English.

The Adobo Sunrise (Php 325.00) is a plate of rice topped with adobo flakes and fried egg.

The adobo flakes was awesome – it was heaven! I like that its sourness was not too overpowering but just enough to make me squint a little. The hint of liver was also fantastic. I requested the fried egg to be fluffy but it was dry. It seems that their cook was best to do it sunny side up or poached. But anyway, it was just a preference. The egg was still great and was a great matched to the flakes. The rice was dry, which was actually good for me, since the flakes and egg were already too oily.

This dish was amazing. However, if you’re acidic, I suggest to try their other dish. Or if you really wanna have it, then bring some antacid.

The Early Bird Full English (Php 495.00) is a plate consists of English banger (sausage), bacons strips, mushrooms, grilled ripe tomatoes, two eggs (either poached, scrambled or sunny side up), hash potatoes, baked beans and a choice of either fried or toasted bread.

The star of the plate was supposed to be the English banger but my friend was disappointed because it was not cooked well. What added to his disappointment was that the beans tasted like the canned pork and beans, and that the bacon was dry. On the good side, the fried potatoes were flavored and cooked great. The poached eggs were nicely done but lacks salt. The mushrooms were good and has smoky flavor.  the grilled tomato balances the saltiness coming from almost all the food in the plate.

One of their signature drinks is the Nutella Hot Chocolate (Php 145.00). Nothing special for me. I did not taste the Nutella that much.

The Tropical Smoothie (Php 165.00) was far better than the Nutella Hot Chocolate. I could taste the kiwi, strawberry, banana and pineapple in this drink. And, of course, it was refreshing.

The Verdict

The food in this all-day breakfast cafe was good. I even rated one of them as perfection. I also love the service and the ambiance. However, I think that the meals and drinks are expensive.
