Gangnam Wings. Annyeonghaseyo!

This restaurant has been serving awesome Korean fried chicken wings in SM Megamall for a long time now. But I only learned about it some weeks ago. I bet most of you my readers were not aware of this restaurant until now. I could not blame you. This joint is really hard to see. It’s located in Building A but only accessible via the parking road along Dona Julia Vargas Avenue.

If not for a wrong turn of the cab I rode one day, I wouldn’t learn about its existence.

Gangnam Wings

Gangnam Wings

Gangnam Wings serves, well, wings – fried chicken wings in four varieties: Original, Ganjang (Soya), Yangnyum (Sweet), and Spicy.

According to the server, their bestseller is the Original and the Yangnyum varieties but since I didn’t feel like eating a plain fried chicken that moment, I opted to order the latter.

Gangnam Wings' Yangnyum Wings
Yangnyum Wings

I’m so used to the taste of Korean fried chicken, that’s why I already have set my expectations on what’s coming. Good thing, the Yangnyum Wings (Php 288 for 4 pieces; Php 398.00 for 6 pcs) delivered and even exceeded what I was expecting.

Their fried wings are must-try. I already know that the Yangnyum variant would be sweet and a little spicy. But what surprised me was it was good – both its skin and meat. Even better, the meat was so tender and so juicy. The sesame seeds (a normal thing with Korean fried chicken) added flavor to it.

Gangnam Noodles

Gangnam Noodles

Aside from the wings, you may also had Korean noodles. They have also four variants (I think the owner loves the number 4): Spicy Noodles, Seafood Spicy Noodles, Spicy Dry Noodles and Japchae. Their must-try is the Spicy Dry Noodles. Unluckily it was unavailable when I visited. Since I’m not a fan of Japchae #sorrynotsorry, I had both spicy noodles and seafood spicy noodles.

I thought both Spicy Noodles (Php 148.00) and Seafood Spicy Noodles (Php 198.00) have the same soup base, only the latter has, well, seafood. Both used, as expected, minute (read: instant) noodles.

The calamari and (small) shrimps of the seafood variant were cooked well. Its flavor were nicely infused to the hot and very spicy soup.

I found the Spicy Noodles’ taste more clean. It was creamier because, I think, they mixed egg in it.

The Verdict

The Verdict

I definitely recommending Gangnam Wings for a good plate of fried chicken wings. As of now, I have tried their Yangnyum Wings and looking forward for another visit to try the other wing flavors.

For the noodles, it was good too. But I’d tried better instant Korean noodles though.
